Trabzon – this is a city on the Black Sea coast, which was previously a Greek colony and was called Trapezous. Currently, this rapidly developing resort boasts an unusual culture and vibrant locations from ancient and modern history.
On the pages of our electronic magazine, guests will see the sights of Trabzon, including many temples, the most popular of which is rightfully Panagia Sumela. This is an ancient temple, carved into a mountain at an altitude of 300 meters, where the legendary icon of the Virgin Mary was previously kept. At the moment it is not operational, but it is definitely worth a look at its magnificent architecture and frescoes.
Another important location for the city – This is Ataturk's mansion, which was presented to the first president of Turkey. Inside there is a history museum, and on the territory of the mansion there is a beautiful garden overlooking the sea and mountains. On a high hill overlooking the entire city, there are such attractions of Trabzon as picturesque sites, among which the most famous – Bosepte.
The Hagia Sophia, with its picturesque garden and tall palm trees, was previously nothing more than the main cathedral of the Trebizond Empire, but in 2013 it was converted into a mosque. Here you can find exquisite frescoes with paintings from the Bible and the figure of an eagle, which, according to legend, fixed its gaze directly on Constantinople. Trabzon attractions also include outings to Istanbul, Pamukkale and Cappadocia.
